Deadly LoversThe sun rose over the hidden lake, healing Verity's wounds. She awoke
weak and tired... more disturbed over the revelation that her target
was her former love. She wanted him to think she was dead... she didn't
want to have to deal with her old feelings for him. She couldn't afford
to have emotions cloud her judgment.
Verity headed deeper into the forest until she found the edge of a
mountain. Tracing her way around the edge of it, she found a crevice
that lead to a ledge overlooking a valley below. She set up camp,
hoping he wouldn't sense her and find her there.
As the days went by, she trained, repeating her various kata or a solo
randori. She thought of him as she moved, each step or strike flowing
and perfect. They had practiced together every day, their sparring
bordering on full-fledged competition, neither ever truly winning. They
